Recipe ingredients: Serves 4
- 250g dried chopped dates
- 40g Sultanas
- 40g Rolled Oats
- 50-60g Protein Powder (optional and any kind/flavour you like)
- 3 Tbsp Smooth Peanut Butter
- 2 Tbsp Flaxseed
- 3 Tbsp Clear Honey
- 2 Tbsp Water/Milk
Recipe prep & method
We used BANANA flavoured protein powder for this recipe, but of course, you can use whichever flavour you like! You also swap out the sultanas for chocolate chips OR dried cranberries.
Method
Firstly, find a nice big bowl to stir the ingredients in!
Pour the entire 250g of dates into the bowl, along with the sultanas, flaxseed, half the oats. And half the protein powder. Mix the ingredients a little here while they’re dry.
Pop two out of the three tablespoons of peanut butter into the bowl along with two out of the three tablespoons of honey.
Stir the mixture really well with a spoon. (You may want to consider using two spoons here!)
Once the ingredients are starting to moisten, you can add the remaining oats, protein powder, honey and peanut butter.
Stir thoroughly until there are no dry parts to the mixture. You may need to add a tablespoon or two of water/milk if you feel more moisture is needed and you want to avoid using more honey or peanut butter! You want the consistency to be moist but slightly crumbly still in order to roll the balls without too much excess coming off on to your hands!
Once you feel the ingredients are mixed well enough, it’s time to roll the balls! And for this, no utensils needed, just dive in and getting rolling between your palms! You may want to use baking paper for this, as it’s great for a non-stick surface.
You should be able to get at least 9 x 50g balls out of this bowl, however, remember you can make them as big or as small as you like!
