Dance – The New Fitness Craze

The new trend in fitness is dance. Although dance has been around from as early as the 8thcentury BC and has always been a part of human culture, rituals and celebrations, dance is undergoing a revival as the new and fun way to lose weight and stay in shape. A method of fitness by which many are saying is the most enjoyable way to get some exercise.
Dance fitness classes come in many shapes and sizes, employing various styles of dance into each workout such as belly dancing, Hip Hop, ballroom, Bollywood, African, Latin and many more.
Dance style fitness classes will see you get into shape and lose weight all while having fun. A study in the Journal of Physiological Anthropology stated that dance is just as effective for losing weight as jogging or cycling. Dance is also an excellent cardiovascular workout that helps to improve your overall health and has even been found go above and beyond. The Journal of Sports Science and Medicine found that dance can actually help to improve older adults memory and cognitive function and the New England Journal of Medicine stated that regular dance (twice a week) made people less likely to develop dementia. Best of all, dance does not discriminate, people of all ages, shapes and sizes can participate and reap the wide range of benefits.
