Hotspot: La Manga
We have another beautiful HOTSPOT for you this week courtesy of our lovely InstructorLiveBarreConcept and Stretch and Sculpt Instructor, Rebecca Horner. Rebecca suggested we tell you all about ‘La Manga’ in Spain as it is somewhere that she owns a property and is such a great holiday destination for families and also couples. She describes this beautiful Spanish destination as ‘The Cinderella of Spain.’ According to Rebecca, it’s a big farming area but at the same time has such explorable and scenic parts to it.
A little bit of Geography….
La Manga del Mar Menor (meaning “The Sandbar of the Minor Sea”) lies right at the most southern part of the Costa Blanca. The strip is 22km long and 100 meters wide separating the Mediterranean Sea from the Mar Menor (Minor Sea) lagoon, from Cabo de Palos to the Punta de Mojon.
In terms of sports, La Manga also is a great place for you fitness fanatics too! Rebecca highly recommends the La Manga Club. This is where the England football team trains as well as many famous golfers. The Mar Menor is particularly known to foreigners for its three championship La Manga golf courses.
There are also sailing and skiing schools that run periodical courses, as well as windsurfing, catamarans and canoeing. The La Manga Stadium in the nearby town of Los Belones hosts numerous football clubs form all over the world during the winter months. Rebecca highly recommends ‘Paddle Tennis’ a sport that’s new to the UK but quite established in Spain. It is a game that is adapted from tennis and has actually been played for over a century. She describes it as a mixture between tennis and squash. For those people who like to try new fitness trends why not check out Paddle Tennis while in La Manga? If you’ve tried it before, let us know what it’s like!
We hope you enjoyed a little sneak peak into Rebecca’s favourite place to go on holiday!
