Hot Spot: Puglia, Italy
Our lovely Italian instructor Mao has provided us with a great HOTSPOT this week! Puglia, Italy’s heel, is close to Rome, where Mao is from and is somewhere that he very much enjoys visiting. He likens the beaches to those of the Caribbean – get us there now!
A bit of history…
Puglia is the long strip of land, 400km from north to south, that makes up the heel of Italy. For centuries it was a strategic province, colonized, invaded and conquered by just about every major power of the day – from the Greeks through to the Spanish.
These days clean seas and reliable sunshine are what draws for holiday-makers both Italian and foreign, and acres of campsite-and-bungalow-type tourist villages stud the shoreline, though there are still quiet spots to be found. B&Bs have been springing up everywhere, often in the historic centres of towns, some simple, some splendid, all of them better value for money than most hotels.
Puglia’s is such a beautiful place and this combined with the favourable climate creates the ideal environment for a relaxing holiday that also combines some fitness. There are so many options for sporting activities such as sailing, diving, snorkelling, golfing, cycling and trekking. Here at InstructorLive, we do love a holiday that combines relaxing and fitness!
It is easy to see why this beautiful destination is one of Mao’s favourite places in the world. With lovely views, plenty of activities, great weather and Italian food there literally isn’t much more you could want in a holiday!
