“It’s also great being able to choose such a wide variety of exercise without paying huge gym subscriptions.”

Ferial is a retired Vicar from Cumbria with a love for staying fit and keeping active. Here’s her story.

Ferial’s story

Q. Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?
A. I live in Cumbria; like walking, cycling, cooking, food, and wine; play the flute in an orchestra and sing in a small choir.

Q. What’s your occupation and age?
A. I retired for the second time in 2014 at the age of 70. Before that, I was a Team Vicar in a parish in South Cumbria.

Q. What attracted you to join InstructorLive?
A. I like to keep fit and Cumbrian weather isn’t conducive to cycling in the Winter! It’s also great being able to choose such a wide variety of exercise without paying huge gym subscriptions.

Q. Did you have any specific goals when you first signed up?
A. Keep the flab away and stay fit and healthy.

Q. What do you love most about your InstructorLive membership?
A. Variety and value for money. The instructors are great too!

Q. Have you noticed any changes or results since you first joined InstructorLive?
A. I’m a lot stronger in areas that weren’t before. I’ve lost inches in all the right places and sleeping really well.

Q. What advice would you give someone just starting out with InstructorLive?
A. Stick with it – commit to doing some exercise every day without fail, and never give up! Sometimes the last thing in the world I want to do is slog away for 45 minutes. But it’s amazing how fast the time goes and even if you can’t manage all the exercises, just do what you can to the best of your ability. Getting a technique right is more important than the number of reps. The strength will build and in due course, you’ll find you can do what you never thought was achievable.

Q. What’s the most recent program you’ve completed?
A. The Ultimate Shred – two more weeks to go.

Q. What did you think of the program?
A. Excellent – and Leigh is a real motivator, and nice with it!

Q. At any point, did you want to give up? If so, what kept you motivated and coming back from more?
A. Week 3 was hard – not seeing much result but being encouraged to keep on by Leigh. And what do you know – she’s right. But it does take perseverance. No pain, no gain, as they say.

Q. What results have you achieved from the program, both mentally and physically?
A. The satisfaction of feeling stronger and fitter. When I’m tempted to give up I just remind myself that it’s all worth it.

Q. In a sentence or two, what did you get out of the program?
A. Feeling stronger and fitter, and having my husband comment one day, “You’re looking very trim!”
